Opportunities to Explore, Create, and Grow

At Pen Ryn, learning continues well beyond the classroom. Our wide range of clubs and activities gives students the chance to explore interests, develop new skills, and build friendships in fresh and meaningful ways. Whether trying something for the first time or diving deeper into a favorite topic, these experiences help students grow as thinkers, teammates, and individuals.

Trimester Clubs

Throughout the year, Pen Ryn offers trimester clubs that give students the flexibility to explore different interests as they change with each season. These clubs vary by trimester and are tailored to different grade level cohorts, so there’s always something new for students to try.
 
Trimester clubs typically run for six weeks at a time, allowing students to sign up for different experiences throughout the year. Offerings often include:
 
  • Sports clubs
  • Science and STEM activities
  • Art clubs
  • Drama club
  • Cooking classes
  • And many more options that rotate each trimester

This structure encourages students to step out of their comfort zones, try new activities, and discover new passions alongside their peers.

Year-Long Clubs

In addition to trimester opportunities, Pen Ryn offers several clubs that span the entire school year, giving students a chance to build deeper skills and sustained teamwork.
 
Odyssey of the Mind
 
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) is an international program that challenges students to solve complex problems using creativity, engineering, and teamwork. Open to students in grades K-8, OM teams work throughout the year on long-term projects that combine building, artistic design, and dramatic performance. They learn to think outside the box, collaborate effectively, and present their solutions at competitions — all while having a lot of fun.
 
Reading Olympics
 
Reading Olympics is a year-long program for students in grades 5-8 who love reading and discussing books. Participants read from a selected list and work together as a team to prepare for a friendly competition with other schools. During the event, they answer questions about the books they’ve read, celebrate their collective efforts, and build a shared enthusiasm for reading.
