Student Life

Daily Life and Community

At Pen Ryn, the school day is about so much more than academics. It’s a time for students to build connections, grow as individuals, and become part of a close-knit community.
The day begins between 8:00 and 8:25 AM, when students arrive by bus or car and gather with their grade-level cohorts, giving them a chance to start the morning catching up with friends before classes begin. Our youngest learners in PreK3 through Kindergarten are greeted each day by their classroom teachers, allowing parents a moment to connect and share any quick updates — helping everyone start the day with a sense of ease and partnership.

As the day unfolds, students move from their morning gatherings into classrooms where they’re engaged, challenged, and supported. But beyond academics, the school day at Pen Ryn is filled with experiences that bring our community together — from monthly buddy activities that connect younger and older students, to special events, assemblies, and school traditions that make each week unique. These moments weave joy, friendship, and a strong sense of belonging into the fabric of daily life, helping every child feel part of something larger than themselves.

Opportunities Beyond the School Day

Pen Ryn is also vibrant with activities outside of regular classes, offering students countless ways to explore interests, develop skills, and build friendships.

Through a wide range of clubs, athletic teams, art performances, and summer programs, students dive into experiences that challenge and inspire them. Whether learning choreography for a musical, competing on a sports team, joining a science club, or tackling creative problems in Odyssey of the Mind, these opportunities help students grow in confidence, teamwork, and joy.
