Magazine Drive - September 21st through October 17th, 2011
This is a large PTO fundraiser that occurs for a two week period at the beginning of the school year. If you or any family member subscribes to any magazines, ordering them through this drive provides a significant financial benefit to our school. Ice Cream Social - Friday, September 9th, 2011
This is a fun-filled PTO family friend raiser where the entire Pen Ryn student body gathers together, has some ice cream and greets their friends and teachers to celebrate the start of another school year!
Areas Requiring Assistance: Help is needed Friday afternoon, before dismissal, setting up and decorating tables, and cleaning up at the conclusion of the event.

Family Bowling Night - Saturday, October 15th, 2011
Come join your friends and classmates at Levittown Lanes for an evening of Moonlight Bowling, food and fun! This 3 hour event includes unlimited games, shoe rental, pizza and soda! You're sure to be BOWLED over!

Halloween Sleepover/ Haunted House - Friday, October 28th, 2011
This is a fun-filled event for Grades 5-8 only.
Areas Requiring Assistance: Prior to the event, decorating the school lobby, Haunted House help, providing snacks/drinks, set-up, clean-up.

Grandparents/Special Persons Day - Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011
On the Wednesday morning prior to the Thanksgiving break, all grandparents'/special persons are invited to spend a magical morning with their very special Pen Ryn students!
Areas Requiring Assistance: Help is needed the morning of the event with set-up of refreshments and beverages, greeting and giving directions to our special visitors, and clean up after the morning activities have concluded.

Scholastic Book Fair - November 28th to December 3rd, 2011
The Scholastic Book Fairs at Pen Ryn are a great value-buying opportunity for the school as well as a fundraising event. Organized and run by the PTO, the Book Fairs occur primarily during the day with opportunities to purchase books either after school or through an order form. The successful outcome of these Book Fairs has provided many new books to our library and our teachers' classroom libraries, as well as financial support for the school! Areas Requiring Assistance: Unpacking and set-up, manning the fair, helping with sales at the cashier table, breakdown and packing up during this multi-day event.

Craft Show and Greens Sale - Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd, 2011
If you love the holidays, you will love this long-standing Pen Ryn PTO sponsored community-wide event! The Craft Show is a fundraiser that opens our building to the outside community and draws quality crafters who sell a variety of items for every kind of shopper or browser.
Areas Requiring Assistance: There are a variety of subcommittees for this event that need support including the kitchen, baking, selling and wrapping baked goods for the Bake Sale Table, the Gift Baskets/Raffle Committee, Set-up/Breakdown, Greens Sales, Decorating, and Publicity. Volunteers are also needed to provide help at the door and direct traffic in the parking lot.
** The Craft Show has opportunities to earn volunteer hours from home! Volunteers are needed to bake and donate for the Bake Sale Tables, and to stencil the shopping bags that are given out at the door. All materials are provided, and bags are done for several weeks leading up to the event.

Holiday Shoppe - Friday, December 16th, 2011
This is a Monday and Tuesday weekday, hands-on activity assisting the children in selecting gift items to purchase. All purchases are wrapped and tagged for the children so they are ready for gift giving. It's a fun-filled shopping spree!
Areas Requiring Assistance: Inventory prior to the event, set-up, stocking the items, assisting each child in selecting their purchases, checkout, wrapping and clean-up.

Father Daughter Dance - Saturday, February 25th, 2012
This is a fun, Saturday evening social event for fathers and daughters of all ages to get dressed to the nines and dance the night away! All Fathers and Daughters are Invited!
Areas Requiring Assistance: Set-up, break down/clean up, and someone to help the photographer log in the families.

Family Ice Skating - Saturday, January 28th, 2012
Pen Ryn is going ice skating! Have some fun on a winter afternoon on a private rink at Grundy! Admission includes skate rental and 90 minutes of skating! Warm clothes, hats, gloves and helmets are recommended.
Areas Requiring Assistance: Volunteers are needed approximately 30 minutes before and 30 minutes into the start of the event to collect admission.

Mother's Day Flower Sale - Thursday, May 10th, 2012
Every child in the school has the opportunity to shop for flowers for that special woman in their lives - Mom, Grandmom, Nana, Aunt, Sister, or even "Special Teachers".
Areas Requiring Assistance: Unload plants and wrap pots in foil the evening before, assistance selling the plants, clean up and break down during the school day.

PTO Student Picnic - Wednesday, May 30th, 2012
The Student Picnic is a long standing tradition where the PTO treats all of the students and staff to a picnic lunch. The PTO cooks the lunch and the students provide the fun! The Student Picnic is followed by an afternoon PTO sponsored assembly.
Areas Requiring Assistance: Volunteers are needed to grill, set up, serve, cut up fruit, provide drinks, clean up, and HAVE FUN! Volunteer and join your child for a fun, outside (weather permitting) picnic!

Blue and Gold Day - Friday, June 1st, 2012
Blue and Gold Day is the traditional, all-school competition where the best team wins! The PTO provides and serves a snack throughout the morning's activities.
Areas Requiring Assistance: Volunteers are needed before the competition starts to cut up watermelon. Volunteers then work in shifts during the competition serving popsicles to students. Volunteer with us and we will make sure you don't miss the action!

Teacher's Luncheon - Thursday, June 14th, 2012
After dismissal on the last half day of school, a gourmet buffet is provided for the faculty and staff as a "Thank You" for another wonderful year. This is the opportunity for many parents (especially those with 8th grade graduates) to show their culinary expertise by making and donating a favorite appetizer, entrée, or dessert for this exquisite meal. The PTO provides financial and volunteer support for this event.
Areas Requiring Assistance: Donating food, baked goods and beverages, set-up, hospitality, serving and clean up for the lunch buffet.
Parent Volunteers are the heart of the Pen Ryn School. These events would not be successful without the dedication of time and talent from our wonderful parents. Thank you for all that you do for our students!
Ongoing Activities

Pizza and Ice Cream Fridays
Every Friday, the Pen Ryn PTO sells pizza and ice cream, which is purchased from local vendors, to our children for lunch. This is enthusiastically enjoyed by each and every one of our children throughout the school year.
Areas Requiring Assistance: Distributing the pizza and ice cream, cashiering, assisting children in the lunch room, washing trays, and wiping tables. See separate sign-up form.
Classroom parties, Grandparents' Day, Craft Show Bake Sale, etc. Look for flyers asking for baked goods!
This program allows the PTO to easily earn additional money. Families clip Box Tops for Education from participating products and send them to school.
Areas Requiring Assistance: We need all of our families to participate by clipping the cash before you toss the trash!
